Island Association Scholarship Program

We take pride in our students as a community and encourage them to pursue their educational goals with the help of our scholarship programs.

Freshman Year Scholarship

This award is specifically designed to help local high school graduates with educational expenses in their first year of continuing education.  The scholarship can be used for a variety of secondary educational options including Community, Technical College and University study.  The awards are offered annually to graduating seniors.

Eligible students are mailed a Freshman Year Scholarship Application in April and may request an award of up to $1,000.00.  Scholarship awards are presented to recipients at the Island Association June Membership Meeting at the Madeline Island Public Library.

Continuing Scholarship

In 2010 the Board of Directors appointed a committee to investigate the sustainable expansion of its Scholarship Program.  The Continuing Scholarship was created to help students with educational expenses after their freshman year.  Due to a generous $10,000.00 donation from the Pace Woods Foundation in December of 2012 the program was able to expand.

Students may apply for an award of $600.00 for each academic year. Eligible Students are mailed a Continuing Scholarship Application in late June with awards given for the fall semester of that academic year.

"Island Association, I would like to thank you so very much for the Continuing Scholarship that you have awarded me.  Words cannot describe how happy I was when I saw your letter in the mail.  You have no idea how much this means to me.  Both the Freshman Year Scholarship and now the Continuing Scholarship have helped me so much with my tuition costs.  These scholarships will continue to help future island students in their college education.
I am grateful that this Association has been so helpful to the community and I hope that you continue your efforts in the future.  I hope that I can contribute more to the community and to the Island Association when I graduate from college.  Thanks again."
